美國副國務卿康貝爾（Kurt Campbell）今天表示，中國已構成美國史上最大挑戰，並且更勝於冷戰時期，他呼籲歐洲對北京當局採取更強硬立場。
法新社報導，康貝爾告訴美國眾議院外交事務委員會（Foreign Affairs Committee）：「人們認識到這是我們歷史上最重大的挑戰。」
康貝爾指出：「坦白說，與中國帶來的多方面挑戰相比，冷戰（Cold War）顯得黯然失色。」
他還說：「不僅是軍事挑戰：這是全面性的。在全球南方（Global South）。在科技上。我們需要全方面加強我們的競賽。」
